DILLENART SPECIAL NEWS

Boat #5, Colored Pencil on Cradle Board, 10"H x 10"W x 1.5"D, N. Baur Dillen
This year I started developing a new series of colored pencils drawings that for lack of a better title is call "Boats!" I featured one (Hover Craft) in the April newsletter. I sent it to New York City for the annual National Association of Women Artists exhibit.

The majority of the drawings are on Bristol paper, then glued to 10"W x 10"H x 1.5" D cradle board. Each is ready to hang in groups or can stand alone. Since the drawings are small they allowed me to play, explore, and create a wide variety of composites.

Because of all the new Boat creations, I added a new page on my website that showcases all of them. Here is a link to the new "Boats" page.

Also this year, I am updated my "Memory Scapes" paintings and my "Black and White Drawings" pages. Each has its own page. Click the highlighted words above to see them. I hope you enjoy checking them out.

Ideas keep spilling out!
Salad, Oil on Gesso Board, 17"H x 19"W, 1999, N. Baur Dillen

TWO PAINTINGS SOLD!

Over the past month two of my paintings found permanent homes. Salad, above, is now living in Pittsburgh with a good friend. I created it shortly after I took a class in the egg tempera technique when I was on a study abroad in Sienna, Italy. Salad is a pivotal piece that started me on my path of using multiple layers of transparent oil paints in my paintings.

Fish Stick (below) was created as part of my "Water Circus" Series that I developed after I retired from teaching at Eastern Florida State College. It's new home is with a nice couple living in Floridana Beach.

FROM VISION to REALITY: 10 Years of Venvi Art Gallery

November 7, 2025 – February 20, 2026

Recently, I was invited to exhibit one of my paintings in the Venvi Art Gallery’s 10th Anniversary Exhibition. It is an honor to be a member of this gallery in Tallahassee. While there, good friend, Grace Leal and I were asked to have a two-person show. Since then, I have added artwork to their physical and on-line galleries. For this show, I sent an old favorite... Sky Screen to celebrate this special occasion. The piece always reminds me of the peach trees that grew in north Florida near my home, and the good times we enjoyed visiting the orchards to pick fresh, juicy, delicious peaches. Yum!

For those friends living in the north Florida area, I hope you will take a some time to stop by and see the work while on display. I'm sure it will be an exceptional show.
